Emergency Measures | Floods: Current Situation - April 20

Given current conditions and the weather forecast, the City is maintaining the INTERVENTION mode, activated on April 17, 2026, in accordance with the Ville de Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue’s emergency plan.

It is imperative that all residents near Lac des Deux-Montagnes remain vigilant and, if necessary, take the necessary measures to protect their homes.

CURRENT STATUS

LAC DES DEUX-MONTAGNES

  • The flow of the Ottawa River at the Carillon Dam continues to rise today and is expected to continue rising over the next few days.
  • Water levels are rising and will continue to do so over the next few days. Water levels are currently approximately 700 millimeters (28 inches) above the minor flood threshold (23.29 m).
  • There is a real and present risk of flooding for residents along the shores of Lac Deux-Montagnes.
  • “Jersey” concrete barriers were installed on Friday, April 17, along the shores of Lac Deux-Montagnes in parc Godin, as well as across from 176 rue Sainte-Anne.
  • Dikes have been installed in strategic areas such as parc Godin and 176 rue Sainte-Anne.
  • Rue Sainte-Anne, between rue Saint-Charles and rue de l’Église, remains under 24-hour surveillance for flood risks.

LAC SAINT-LOUIS

  • Water levels are stable and are currently below the minor flood threshold, which is approximately 30 centimeters (8 inches).
  • The risk of flooding remains, and residents should still remain vigilant.
  • The promenade du Canal and the area around rue Lalonde remain under 24-hour surveillance for potential overflow risks.

Teams are ready to respond and have all necessary resources at their disposal:

  • Continuous monitoring of water levels in Lac des Deux-Montagnes and Lac Saint-Louis is being conducted.
  • The Public Works Department continues to secure the areas most at risk, particularly around Lac des Deux-Montagnes and in key strategic zones.
  • The Municipal Patrol is on duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Following the activation of INTERVENTION mode, material resources are in place and pumping of the stormwater system continues 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • An email address is now available: mesuredurgence@sadb.qc.ca. This email address can be used at any time for non-urgent situations.
  • Residences and businesses located in areas surrounding Lac Deux-Montagnes can receive up to two pallets of sand free of charge if the situation requires it.
