    Special weather statement in effect for the Island of Montreal

    Conditions are conducive to the formation of dangerous thunderstorms that could produce very strong gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

    In accordance with the City’s Extreme Weather Emergency Plan, we are informing you that we will be on standby this afternoon (August 13) and early this evening.
    • There is a low risk of tornadoes;
    • Power outages are possible;
    • Water activities could be dangerous due to sudden, violent gusts on bodies of water.
    Be prepared to deal with difficult weather conditions. If you see threatening weather, take shelter in a basement or interior room. If you are outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail. When thunder rumbles, get inside quickly! Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year.
    Our team will closely monitor the situation to ensure that we are fully prepared for any developments.
