The Ecomuseum opened in 1988 in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue and has welcomed 1.4 million visitors, 40% of which are youth, to its educational zoo. The Ecomuseum is managed by the Natural History Society of the St. Lawrence Valley, a nonprofit whose mission focuses on education, research and conservation. Visitors can admire over 115 species of animals, mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. The Ecomuseum is currently fundraising for its proposed avian fauna including the construction of an aviary and a multi-pen enclosure. The CLD has pledged an amount of $30, 000 to this project which will require investments of nearly $1 million.
