Honorable Mention for Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue's Public Safety Officer

The Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM) is proud to honor Alain Dupuis, Public Safety Officer of the town of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, who demonstrated an exceptional level of performance and ability in his duties.
Mr. Dupuis was the officer on duty on June 14, 2011. During his patrol, a citizen informed him that a man armed with a knife entered a Couche-Tard located at 56 Rue Ste-Anne. Arriving at the parking lot of the Couche-Tard, he saw the suspect leaving the scene, knife in hand. The cashier notified Mr. Dupuis that the suspect performed the robbery. Mr. Dupuis followed the suspect and contacted 911 to report the incident, while indicating the direction taken by the man, helping in the arrest of the suspect.
By choosing to follow the suspect instead of trying to intercept him himself, Mr. Dupuis avoided being seriously hurt and injuring any passerbys. He chose the correct course of action, allowing SPVM’s officers to safely arrest the suspect. The Police Department wishes to commend Mr. Dupuis for contributing to Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue's sense of security and for showing courage, initiative, self-control and leadership in this situation.
