The person responsible will see to all legal affairs of the City, drafting policies, by-laws, public notices and participates in the development of various contracts. She also prepares agendas, documents and minutes related to all City Council sittings. Conservation of City archives is also under her responsibility. She ensures compliance with the Loi sur l'accès aux documents des organismes publics et sur la protection des renseignements personnels and la Charte de la langue française. She is responsible for the conduct of elections and referendums in the Town and municipal communications.
